Instruction on Prayers for Healing is defended

January 1, 2001. The recent publication of the “Instruction on Prayers for Healing” by the Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has stirred up public opinion due to the arbitrary interpretation by some of the mass media.

Publication of the book “Then Peter stood up...”

March 1, 2000. The year 2000 is the opportune time for the publication of this book. It collects what the Church has said and written, in the person of the Holy Father, about the Catholic Charismatic Renewal over the last thirty years.

30th Anniversary of the CCR

September 1, 1997. The Catholic Charismatic Renewal which has touched the lives of millions in every corner of the world had simple beginnings. A group of Catholic College students gathered for a weekend retreat at the Ark and the Dove retreat house outside of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. They were praying for a “New Pentecost” throughout the weekend.

3rd CCR Consultative Meeting in Anglophone Africa

May 1, 1997. It was a privilege to host this meeting in South Africa from November 4 to 6 last year and to meet and have discussion with our brothers and sisters from Botswana, Eritrea, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The meeting was chaired by Mark Nimo of Ghana, the ICCRS representative for Anglophone Africa.

New Teaching Ministry and New Director

March 1, 1997. In the summer of 1996, Sr. Nancy Kellar re-located from Rome to New York, USA, to pioneer the newly formed ICCRS Teaching Ministry.

Meeting of the Catholic Charismatic NSCs of Europe

January 1, 1997. Eighty leaders from 17 countries participated in the Bi-annual meeting of the National Service Committees of Europe that met last September in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. These included Bishop Dembowski from Poland, a member of ICCRS, who spoke about the importance of maintaining close links with the Church.

Brian Smith appointed to the Pontifical Council for the Laity

July 1, 1996. The Holy Father has appointed Brian Smith a member of the Pontifical Council for Laity.

Leo Jozef Card. Suenens · 1904-1996

May 1, 1996. Cardinal Suenens born on July 16, 1904 in Ixelles, which is in the archdiocese he was going to lead several years later. When he expressed the desire to be a priest, well-known Card. Mercier, then Archbishop of Malines, sent him to study in Rome at the Gregorian University. He graduated in Philosophy, Theology and Canon Law.

Changes in the Vatican

1996. The Holy Father has appointed His Excellency Msgr. Paul Joseph Cordes president of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum, raising him at the same time to the dignity of Archbishop. Pope Paul VI founded Cor Unum (“One Heart”) in 1971 to help him to respond to the duty of universal charity.
