(2 November 1980) On the Feast of Christ the King, November 23, the Holy Father held a special audience with a group of charismatics.

Meetings of charismatic groups with Pope John Paul II

(1 November 1980) Two charismatic groups were in Rome, each for 15 days, during the October Synod of Bishop. While there, they maintained a house of prayer in support of the work of the Synod, also offering an opportunity for the Synod bishops to experience the renewal by coming to pray with them.

Charismatic Renewal represented at Vatican meeting

(2 May 1980) Two members of the International Council of the ICO, Ralph Martin of Brussels, Belgium and Hervé Marie Catta of Paris, France, represented the Catholic Charismatic Renewal at a special meeting organized by the Pontifical Council of the Laity in Rocca di Papa from April 14-18.

Charismatic Renewal Leaders meet of Asia meet in Manila

(1 May 1980) Over 90 delegates from 15 countries attended the First Asian Leaders Conference for the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Manila, Philippines from March 6-9, 1980.

International Council meets with Pope John Paul II

(1 January 1980) The International Council of the International Communication Office, together with Cardinal L.J. Suenens of Belgium, met with Pope John Paul II for an hour and a half on December 11.

Ralph Martin resigns as Council Chairman

(1 September 1979) In a letter addressed to Fr. Tom Forrest, director of the International Communication Office, Ralph Martin has resigned as chairman of ICO.

Healing Ministry highlighted at Lourdes Conference

(1 July 1979) From June 29 to July 3, over 10,000 people who are active in Catholic Charismatic Renewal made a pilgrimage to Lourdes.

Pope John Paul II confirms the mandate of Card. Suenens

(2 January 1979) On December 2, 1978 Pope John Paul II received Cardinal L.J. Suenens in an audience at the Vatican. During the audience, Pope John Paul II confirmed and renewed the mandate that Pope Paul VI gave to Cardinal Suenens to guide the evolution of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal so that it may fully enter into the heart of the Church.

ICO Council appoints Fr Tom Forrest as new Director

(1 January 1979) The International Council has made several changes in the organization of the office. In the following letter, Ralph Martin, Director of the office for five years and current Chairman of the International Council, describes these changes in greater detail.

Latin American Priests Meet

(1 December 1977) Only 120 priests were expected to attend the First Charismatic Retreat for Priest in Latin America which was held in La Ceja, Colombia, from September 6-9. However, 310 priests from 15 countries showed up for the event, as well as four bishops from Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela and Guatemala.
