Create a Desire for The Cross of the Renewal

The Cross of the Renewal is very attractive. It has an esthetic appeal of its own. But that is not sufficient to guarantee success.

In order to make it a “must have” item, potential benefactors must be made to appreciate the symbolism of its design. These are the important elements:

First of all, the outpouring of blood and water from the side of Jesus crucified symbolizes the outpouring of the Holy Spirit (1 John 5: 6-8).

Secondly, the words “Veni Creator Spiritus” expresses our fervent prayer for the continued outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

Thirdly, its use gives witness to our involvement in the renewal movement of the Holy Spirit in the Catholic Church.

It is vital that you sell this image in every way possible, and as often as possible. Use every occasion to talk about the Cross of the Renewal - - - at conferences, seminars, retreats, etc. Write about it in your newsletters and magazines. Feature it on your web-site.

Foster Stewardship

Use the promotion of The Cross of the Renewal as an opportunity to explain the mission of your ministry. Explain why your ministry is worthy of support always considering the reality that everyone normally acts in their own self interest. So, in your explanation, try and answer the question, “what’s in it for me?” In other words, your benefactors must have a sense how your ministry benefits them.

Having accomplished this, you can now point out that you have made it easier for them to support your ministry by the purchase of COTR items. Make them feel better about buying what they already desire. They will come back for more.

A lapel pin, or a pendant is a billboard that you wear. It says “I belong”. When you see others wearing the same symbol it inspires camaraderie. And when a multitude of people sport the same symbol, it generates recognition in a given community.
